Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to know what therapy will cost before you begin.

Under the No Surprises Act, all healthcare providers — including therapists — are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) to clients who are uninsured or who are paying out of pocket. This page explains what that means and what you can expect from Montgomery Counseling & Wellness PLLC.

What Is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate is a written document that outlines the expected cost of your care before treatment begins. It is not a bill, and it is not a contract. It is simply a transparent, upfront summary of what you can expect to pay so that you can make an informed decision about your care.

You will receive a Good Faith Estimate before your first appointment. It will include the expected session fee, the service being provided, and an estimated cost range based on a typical course of treatment. Because therapy is an individualized process, the exact number of sessions you will need cannot be predicted in advance — but the estimate will give you a realistic picture of the investment involved.

What Does Therapy Cost at Montgomery Counseling & Wellness?

Montgomery Counseling & Wellness PLLC is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly. Session fees are as follows:

ServiceFee

  • Individual Therapy Session (53–60 minutes): $150

  • Extended Session (75 minutes, by arrangement): $185

  • Phone Consultation (over 15 minutes): $50

Sliding scale fees are available. A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are offered at rates between $60 and $100 per session for clients experiencing financial hardship. If cost is a barrier, please reach out — I would rather have that conversation than have you not get the support you need.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

This is one of the most common questions prospective clients ask, and the honest answer is that it depends. Some people come in with a specific, focused concern and feel ready to step back after 8–12 sessions. Others find that longer-term work is more meaningful for them. There is no required minimum or maximum — you are never locked into a set number of sessions, and you can end therapy at any time.

Your Good Faith Estimate will be based on a 12-week period as a starting point. We will revisit your goals and progress together as we go.
