SERVICES
Support for where you are
and where you want to go.
I offer individual counseling for adolescents (15+), adults, and athletes via telehealth across Illinois.
Individual Counseling
One-on-one therapy for people navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the general weight of being a high-functioning person in a demanding world. Sessions are individualized — I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach.

My work draws on ACT and RO-DBT frameworks, which means we spend our time building real skills, not just talking about problems. You'll leave sessions with tools you can actually use.

Anxiety and worry

Depression and low mood

Perfectionism and overcontrol

Life transitions and identity

ACT and RO DBT Therapy
ACT and RO DBT are two of the most well-researched psychological approaches available — and together, they cover a lot of ground. ACT builds your ability to carry uncomfortable thoughts and feelings without being controlled by them, while moving toward what matters most. RO DBT adds something distinct: it targets the patterns of overcontrol, perfectionism, and emotional masking that often keep high-achieving people stuck even when nothing looks wrong from the outside.

If you've tried therapy before and felt like you were just talking in circles, this combination tends to feel different. It's practical, skills-focused, and grounded in what the research actually shows works.

-
Psychological flexibility and values-based action (ACT)
-
Cognitive defusion — working with unhelpful thoughts without fighting them (ACT)
-
Radical openness to feedback and new experience (RO DBT)
-
Social signaling and genuine connection skills (RO DBT)
-
Present-moment awareness and self-as-context work (ACT + RO DBT)
Athlete Mental Health Counseling
Counseling specifically for athletes navigating the psychological complexity of competitive sport, from performance anxiety and identity to burnout, disordered eating, and the grief of injury or retirement. This is clinical work, not coaching. It is covered by insurance where applicable.

As a competitive runner myself, I bring genuine understanding of what it means to live inside a performance identity and what it costs when that identity becomes a cage rather than a source of meaning.

-
Performance anxiety and pre-race nerves
-
Athletic identity and self-worth
-
Burnout and motivation loss
-
Disordered eating in sport
-
Injury grief and return to sport
-
Retirement and identity transition
Group Sessions
There is something that happens in a room full of people who actually get it — something that one-on-one therapy, as valuable as it is, can't fully replicate. Group counseling offers that. It's a space to work on yourself while also learning from the experiences of others who are navigating similar terrain.

Groups at Montgomery Counseling & Wellness are small, structured, and skills-based. Each group follows a clear therapeutic framework — drawing from ACT and RO DBT — so sessions feel purposeful rather than open-ended.

Upcoming group topics include:
-
Perfectionism — understanding where it comes from, what it costs, and how to relate to your own standards without being ruled by them
-
Anxiety — building the skills to carry anxiety without letting it make your decisions for you
-
Sport identity and transition — navigating who you are when your sport is in flux, whether that's injury, retirement, or a difficult season
-
Performance and overcontrol — for athletes and high achievers whose biggest obstacle isn't effort, it's rigidity
